Southpaws Tip of the week- Forehand Tips
1. Grip: Start by gripping the disc with your index finger on the inside rim and your middle and ring fingers along the bottom of the disc.
2. Stance: Stand with your non-throwing shoulder facing the target, with your feet shoulder-width apart and your weight centered.
3. Reach back: As you pull the disc back, make sure to keep it close to your body for better control and power.
4. Follow through: Follow through with your arm after releasing the disc to maximize distance and accuracy.
5. Practice: The key to improving your forehand throw is practice. Spend time on the field practicing different shots and experimenting with your grip and throwing angle.
6. Disc selection: Choose a disc that is appropriate for your skill level and the shot you want to make. Generally, overstable discs work well for forehand throws.
7. Wrist snap: Focus on snapping your wrist at the point of release to add spin and power to your throw.
8. Body rotation: Engage your hips and torso in the throw to generate more power. Rotate your body as you bring the disc forward.
9. Release point: Aim to release
